Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Before each year of college, apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. Your college uses your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. Many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid.

The FSA ID allows students and parents to identify themselves electronically to access Federal Student Aid websites. An FSA ID is made up of a username and password and can be used to log into the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.

“The FAFSA becomes available on October 1, and some schools award financial aid on a first-come, first-served basis. That’s why it’s so important for families to fill out the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available — because it increases the likelihood a family will receive an aid amount they are comfortable with.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a form completed by current and prospective college students in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. The FAFSA is different than CSS Profile, which is also required by some colleges.

Student financial aid in the United States is funding that is available exclusively to students attending a post-secondary educational institution in the United States. This funding is used to assist in covering the many costs incurred in the pursuit of post-secondary education.

If I couldn't open the "Start State Aid Application" button to auto-transfer the FAFSA information, how do I still send the FAFSA to the state (NJ)? Seems to have disappeared. Is it anywhere on the FAFSA student aid website to transfer the info?

Don’t you have to print out the parent signature and mail it because we had to do that last year for the fafsa form?

This is very helpful! Thank you! Question: If your male student is 17 at the time of filing out the FAFSA do you still select yes to register for selective service being that they are not 18 yet but will be in the fall of 2022?

I started to fill out the FAFSA as a parent before I saw this video saying that I should create the two FSA IDs before completing the FAFSA. I was able to create an FSA ID for the parent, but when I tried to create one for the student, it says that one was already created, even though I never created a student FSA ID; I've just been using my "save key" to pick up and continue filling in the form. Do I need to get this resolved before submitting?

I submitted my FAFSA form but then I realized I forgot to put my student financials with the tax return so I went back to FAFSA but it won’t let me enter my information. What should I do?
