    His mom doesn't want to burden her children with concerns that are hers…my mother was the same way. I'd have helped her in a heartbeat had she needed my help, but she always figured out and managed to take care of herself and she did a good job of it.

    If she doesn't ask for help you can't do anything for her. Be prepared to be looked at as the Bad Brother. So sorry about your father!

    Doesn’t matter if you’re 30, 40, 60, or 80, you need to prepare a plan for if you die. Have wills, advance directives, and name beneficiaries for all your financial assets.

    Zac… If you read this I'm really sorry that you went through this. I know exactly how you feel. My father passed from cancer. His GF would give updates but I always felt like i was missing critical information. I was 36 he was 65. My heart goes to you my friend.

    One child, of several, living with aging parents is always touch and go. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it's a catastrophe. And there ain't no formula any good at predicting the thing.

    Feel for the guy though. Tough to walk into the situation and try to help clean things up. I've been there. Unhelpful sibling only add to the problems. Best of luck to Zack.

    Your latter days are suppose to be peaceful. When you get married and have kids you should have your own place period.I understand helping family and giving them a time frame. Let mom handle her business. I pray that the dad be ok Amen

    I can empathize with this situation because for years I’ve tried to stress the importance of estate planning and my Mother just says I’m not going to worry about it until I need to, and here we are 20+years later and things are more and more expensive and with my retirement plans the doors are closing very quickly
