Credit Report Dispute Process with Equifax & Collections Results
My experience with Equifax refusing to delete an unverified item after notice under section 609 and 611 of the FCRA. My handwritten dispute letter did not get processed by e-OSCAR and Equifax sends me a stall letter at the end of the 30 day investigation period outlined in the FCRA. A follow-up letter was mailed demanding the item be deleted for a violation of the FCRA because the item in UNVERIFIED and INACCURATE. The dispute results was sent to me 60 days after acceptance of my first dispute letter stating the furnisher verified the account as accurate.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act states that reinvestigation allows 30 days to complete the investigation. and 45 days if additional information is provided. If the item cannot be verified in the allowed time, it should be deleted. Why did it take 60 days to verify the account? Why did EQUIFAX refuse to send me the name and telephone number of the person who verified the alleged account?
