  2. The Notorious Vlog says:

Ok so… My mother added me as an AU. She has above 800 scores on all 3 bureaus, She pays on time all the time, never been late, and she’s had these 3 cards for 15 years and/or more. I personally have a credit score a little above 600 on all 3 bureaus. Will I benefit from this? (I am not getting a card; We agreed that she will hold those cards being mailed to her; Which I don’t mind.)

Does the authorized user need to have a credit card as well?

Thanks so much for this great explanation

  5. Man Mohan Sharma says:

I have around 800 credit scores, My wife added me as an authorized user for Amex Blue Cash Preferred to maximize spending on the grocery. I have noticed it decreases the credit-age significantly since it added recently. I felt it's not a good idea to compromise on credit-age for an authorized user. I canceled immediately to restore my credit-age. right thinking?

  6. Saiyuri Inuzuka says:

I want as much info as I can get to convince my mom that authorizing me won't affect her score. Thanks!

Is this still doable in Oct 2020, I heard fico doesn't increase your score anymore, too many ppl using tradelines or do they still do it if it is a family member?

  11. Quinn Quy Nguyen says:

How can you build credit as a Chase authorized user? I saw on someone's screenshot that form for Chase doesn't ask for the AU's SSN.

  12. P B says:

Hey Adam. I recently had myself removed as an authorized user on my spouse’s card so it wouldn’t count against me for 5/24…. But interestingly, the card continues to work. The card number and cvv are the same as my spouses’s “active” card… We’d love to continue to be able to use my “authorized user” card, even though I’m technically removed as it’s a card we’d both like to use… My question is, can the credit card company see that I’m continuing to use the card that
I’m no longer authorized on, when only the name on the front is different from the active card?

  13. Henry Quezada says:

Hi how long it takes to show the records and pass my credit records to the person I add in my credit card thanks

  15. Skincare CEO says:

I heard only certain card types back report the good history. Is it true that Amex does not do this?

  16. Nathan says:

    Awesome advice, thank you.

  17. Kent Woodard says:

When we add an AU, do they have to call the bank to get the card active or can we cut up the card without contacting the bank and it will automatically report to the credit bureaus?

  18. Mkealaa Gerard says:

I’m 17. My mom has me as an authorized user on her credit card that I didn’t even know of until today! Apparently I’ve been on it for 2 years now… she showed me her credit score of ~500 on that card and now I wonder what my credit score is and how I can check it? I’ve tried credit karma but I have to be 18 to sign up. I wonder if I should just have her take me off and wait till I’m 18 to open my own credit card and start on my own assuming her credit history within those 2 years have ruined my credit score.

When you get removed the balance only goes away. You will have a closed account on your credit report and the age of the card will still be reflecting your report. Even after your removed.

  24. Allie U says:

Hello, I have a question I currently have a credit score of 730, I have no credit cards but do have a secured credit card. My oldest account is only 2 years if I became a authorized user will it bring my credit score down?

  25. Andreem Terry says:

I have a question. I have a pretty good credit score (middle 700s) but the age of it is only 1 year and a couple months. I also have about 4 accounts on my credit score. I'm interested in doing this only to raise my age of accounts. if I have a family member add me as a user and they have about 8-9 years of age, I understand that my age will go up a lot. NOW what happens after about a year and they take me off as a user? will my "age" drop back to 1 year? I assume once they drop me, the 9 years I will Gain will drop back to square one which will also drop my score a lot right ? im great with everything but my age of accounts is holding me back.

  26. Oscar Ramirez says:
